Just before the Easter holidays, Class 2 went on a trip to the Great North Museum in Newcastle. While we were here we took part in a Rock Workshop to support our topic of ‘Rocks and Soils’ in Science. The children were able to use magnifying glasses to observe the rocks closely and learned all about how the different types are formed. We then spent the afternoon exploring the rest of the museum. We were all particularly interested in the Bones exhibition they had set up as our previous Science topic covered the human skeleton. We got to take part in a trail around the exhibition matching up animals with their skeletons, dressed up in skeleton cloaks and measured ourselves against bones as big as giraffe necks and whale ribs!
