The pupils in Year 5 and 6 are now part in the Mini Police scheme. This scheme allows children to engage with the local police. It breaks down barriers and encourages team work. The Mini Police are ambassadors for both Durham Constabulary and their local schools.
Recently, one of our Mini Police won a competition to design a logo for Consett Street Friends. Durham PCC Mr Hogg and representatives from Consett Street Friends visited school to award the winner with a certificate and a framed copy of the design.
In October, members of the Mini Police from Year 6 attended a police training centre in Meadowfield to see police officers updating their training in various areas.
In November, the Mini Police helped out at the Lumiere event in Durham. The children talked to members of the public and handed out key rings and magnets. They were lucky enough to meet the Mayor!
The children met Dexter, a police sniffer dog, who was on duty at the Lumiere event.
4 Mini Police visited the Police Headquarters to help Mini Police from other schools decorate the Christmas tree.
