Curriculum – Computing

Vision

Computing is an integral part of everyday life and will play an immeasurable part in our children’s futures. Ebchester CE Primary School believes it is our aim to provide our children with the skills, creativity and enthusiasm to live and thrive in a world increasingly dependent on computing. Our curriculum ensures that each child is able to use the Internet in a safe and respectful way understanding the dangers of being online, the precautions to take and where to seek help.

The core of computing is computer science, so by the time pupils leave Ebchester CE Primary School they will have been taught in depth about how digital systems work and how to put this knowledge to use through programming. Children will be able to write and debug code successfully with confidence and resilience, using a variety of physical resources and online programs. We will also support the pupils of Ebchester CE Primary School in becoming digitally literate- able to use and express themselves and develop ideas through information technology, including using research and word-processing skills to enhance their learning of all other subjects. In addition to timetabled lessons, extra-curricular groups and access to rich educational experiences will also foster passion and creativity for all areas of computing.
