Curriculum – Physical Education

Vision

At Ebchester CE Primary School, we strive to promote healthy and active lifestyles and provide sporting opportunities for all our pupils. In addition, we believe that an innovative and varied PE curriculum – as well as extra-curricular opportunities- have a positive influence on the concentration, attitude and academic achievement of all children.

By the end of their primary education, our pupils will be able to apply and develop a broader range of skills (including running, jumping and throwing skills, team games, gymnastics, dance, swimming and adventurous activities) learning how to use them in different ways. Children will peer and self-evaluate their performances to help them to achieve their personal best. Inclusive participation in physical education will enable children to build self-esteem, resilience and positive values and attitudes in P.E. and across the rest of the curriculum. A variety of experiences both in and out of school are essential for our pupils’ development and opportunities to compete in sport and other activities will help create well-rounded citizens and embed values such as fairness and respect.
